About us

We connect machines to the data economy

MerkleBot is a team of robotics engineers and product builders bringing autonomous robotics and IoT solutions to market — with data infrastructure that is secure, affordable and open.

Our mission

Smart equipment deserves modern data infrastructure

Robots and IoT devices generate some of the most valuable data in the world — and most of it is lost, locked in silos or too expensive to keep.

We started by solving real problems for real machines: financing an industrial arm through its own usage data, sharing a quadruped robot with developers worldwide, connecting a telescope under the darkest skies on Earth. Each project taught us the same lesson — the hard part is the data plumbing.

So we built MerkleBot: a platform that captures machine data securely, stores it on a hybrid cloud at a fraction of the usual cost, and connects it to the services that turn it into revenue.

What we believe

Data you can trust

Machine data should be verifiable, encrypted and owned by the people who generate it.

Efficient by default

The cheapest byte is the one you never upload. We design for less data, less waste, lower bills.

Open standards

ROS 2, MCAP, Docker, content addressing — we build on open ecosystems, not lock-in.

Aligned incentives

With Smart Lease we get paid when our clients get paid. We succeed when your robots do.

Journey

How we got here

2021

Smart Lease

Data-driven financing for industrial robots: Southie Autonomy Works deploys a Mitsubishi Electric arm with no upfront CAPEX.

2021

A telescope in the Atacama desert

We connect an autonomous telescope in Chile so anyone in the world can request a real observation.

2022

A shared Spot lab

Developers anywhere can remotely program a Boston Dynamics Spot in our Bay Area lab through the Spot SDK.

2023

MerkleBot data platform

Data pipelines, hybrid storage and compute and third-party connections in one platform for robotics and IoT.

Today

Fleet-scale hybrid cloud

Pipelines, extractors and decentralized archives for fleets of robots, drones and cameras.

Build the data layer for robots with us

We work with integrators, OEMs, research labs and infrastructure providers. If you build robots, run fleets or operate storage and compute, let's talk.

Ready to put your machine data to work?

In a 30-minute demo we'll map your fleet's data flows and show where hybrid storage and compute cut costs.
